Welcome to Turner Vinson's

Fundamentals of Landscape Painting in Oils

In this course you'll gain a solid understanding of the foundational and basic elements of landscape painting through the study of composition, value, and color.

This course is designed for you to actively paint through the lessons and exercises as Turner is painting and instructing. In this way it is as if you were at an in-person workshop.

While Turner will be working with oil paints, the information covered is not oil paint specific, so feel free to join even if you're working in a different medium.

This course contains over 6 hours of instruction for you to do at your own pace, any time of day, in the comfort of your own home.

So get ready to paint!

This online course is perfect for the beginner painter as well as the artist wanting to loosen up their style and approach to painting.

I am a watercolourist with acrylics on the side, but the videos of Turner made me wanna paint with oils. It doesn't matter what you use because this course explains the fundamentals of landscape painting. I am enjoying every minute of it.. I've learned a lot already from analyzing paintings and sketching thumbnails of them. Turner has a very pleasant way of telling things and it feels like you do things together. A great treat!

About Turner

Growing up in a small town in Texas, Turner wasn’t exposed to the world of fine art until college, where an interest in photography led him to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2011. After college he continued developing himself as an artist with a two year apprenticeship with an oil painter in Boise, Idaho. Soon after studying he fell in love with plein air painting and has now painted from coast to coast in the US and has made a few international excursions as well. In 2018, Turner, his wife and fellow artist, Teysha, and their two (now three) kids hit the road for a year of traveling and creating artwork around the country and to look for a new home in the mountain west. Turner’s work can be found in private collections across the county as well as in Canada and Europe. Turner and his family now live and work out of the beautiful Bitterroot Valley in Montana.
